SFSH : Charlotte Cornfield
Doors 5:30pm | Show 6pm
Charlotte Cornfield’s Could Have Done Anything marks a bold new chapter for the Toronto singer-songwriter, following the breakout success of Highs in the Minuses. Trading familiarity for risk, she drove solo to Dreamland Studios in New York’s Hudson Valley to work with producer Josh Kaufman (Bonny Light Horseman). Recorded over six days with engineer D. James Goodwin, the album features Cornfield and Kaufman playing every instrument, capturing songs as they formed—raw, spontaneous, and alive.
Themes of intimacy, possibility, and acceptance run through the record, whether in the love-soaked “You and Me,” the joy-tinged “Gentle Like the Drugs,” or the thunderclap-accented “In From the Rain.” Embracing uncertainty, Cornfield channels the spirit of classic albums like Tapestry and Blood on the Tracks while crafting her own warm, reflective sound.
