LUNCH
At lunch we have our renowned carvery, a choice of soups with our own home made soda bread or our selection of fresh made to order sandwiches and arbutus baguettes.
Lunch is served Mon – Sat from 12-4pm.

It opened for business on 10 March 1921. The first film screened was D.W. Griffiths THE GREATEST QUESTION. With 900 seats, the cinema quickly established itself as one of the most popular cinemas in Cork. It was the first cinema in Cork City to be equipped with technology for the new talking films – films with speech. Its first ‘talkie’ was shown here on 5 August 1929. A fire caused major damage to the cinema in February 1930 but it reopened in June of the same year. The Pavilion Restaurant was also popular with the locals. Interesting architectural features include the upper barrel vaulted ceiling with original plaster moldings which is retained in the modern day live music venue much to the thrill of the concert goers! Externally the unusual material which clads the walls and the decorative details enhance the façade of this notable building. The Pavilion closed as a cinema in August 1989. The popular music store HMV now occupies the front of the premises on Patrick Street. The old cinema part of the premises was re-opened in the early 90’s as a nightclub and bar on Carey’s Lane. In 2008 new owners gave the cinema a much needed makeover and re-opened it as a live music venue upstairs and late night bar/café downstairs. [text3_title] => Weddings [text3] =>Nestled in a private courtyard, a green haven tucked neatly off one of Cork’s most characterful city streets, the church was deconsecrated in 1949, although drawings of it feature in ancient maps of the area dating as far back as 1580.

Since the early 1800's the Coughlan and Ellis families have plied their trade as Stone Masons, Publicans and Medical Practicioners on Douglas Street. As a listed building elements of this history echo throughout - the stone walled beer garden built in the 1860's, original medical memorabilia and old bottling equipment which was once used to bottle "The Black Stuff" on these very premises.
Over the past number of years we have held onto the traditional values of the pub but also evolved to offer our customers the best possible experience.

We were awarded the very coveted IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) IRISH VENUE OF THE YEAR award in both 2013 and 2019 and have gone on to win several more awards since including IMRO 'Munster Venue Of The Year' in both 2016 and 2024 as well as 'Special Commendation' awards from the national music publication Hot Press in both 2013 and 2015.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
For a brief moment in December 2020 we were allowed to do the thing we love again and welcomed some amazing musicians and crew back to our little venue with thanks to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Catherine Martin T.D. under the LPSS. These shows gave us and everyone involved such a huge lift at a time we desperately needed it.

Coughlan's Live, Promoters of The Great Beyond at Ballinacurra House and all venue partners and stakeholders commit to maintaining the safest possible environment for all staff, teams and patrons during the events.
It is our aim to create a safe environment for our festival in this ever changing and challenging time. We will be implementing plans and will only open events to audiences until and if it is safe to do so. We will be closely monitoring for any updates or changes in these restrictions and if and when there are updates and changes we will change our plans to reflect that.
The Great Beyond has a Lead Worker Representative (LWR) responsible for maintaining and monitoring Covid-19 compliance throughout the events.
In any case we expect all artists, crews, team members and audience to at all times follow these basic steps that we have all become used to:
• Wear a face covering, when moving around the site
• Maintain social Distancing
• Wash hands frequently
• Do not attend anything in person if you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of Covid-19
The safety of our teams, staff and audience are always our priority to ensure we have a safe, creative and enjoyable event.
At the point of entry you will be directed to your pod area, which will be your spot for the day (patrons can move around to pick up a drink and food and return to their designated pod).

All Aboard! Sit back, relax and let us, get you, to The Great Beyond! Please note that there is NO PARKING available on site at Ballinacurra House or it’s surrounds. ALL patrons must use the bus service from Cork City or Kinsale.We have partnered up with Travel Master bus company to provide an optional bus service from Cork City and a complimentary bus shuttle service from Kinsale.

Balinacurra is a beautiful setting for a great day out so let’s enjoy and respect these beautiful grounds...

• No animals, other than guide or hearing dogs, are permitted on site
• Entry Ticket and ID required for entry
• No additional furniture to be brought on site - Benches are provided.
• Please wear suitable clothing for all weather and comfortable footwear
• Please note that ID checks will be in place on entry to the festival and throughout the weekend. If you cannot present valid ID when asked by a member of staff during the event, you will be refused entry and/or evicted from the site.
• Accepted forms of ID are: Passport, Drivers Licence, Garda Age Cards. (We reserve the right to refuse admission without a refund if you cannot prove your age)
• Food and drink will be available for purchase at the Event. Ballinacurra House will be providing food stalls throughout the festival and managing the bar
• All enclosed spaces onsite are no smoking. This includes all stages, all tents and marquees. If you do smoke, please use the butt bins to dispose of your cigarette ends responsibly.
• Medication, if required. Please keep it in its original container.
• Tickets are non transferable and cannot be refunded if you are unable to attend for any reason.
• Line up and stage times are subject to change.
SECURITY
• The Promoter reserves the right to evict a customer and/or refuse admission, without a refund and/or refuse admission
• Admission to the Event is subject to search. You may be body and/or bag searched anywhere on site at any time by security
• Any item(s), which may reasonably considered to be a weapon (or used as a weapon), which may cause danger, offence or disruption to any other person, will be confiscated ? Any person carrying illegal items or carrying out illegal activity may be handed over to An Garda Síochána, refused entry or evicted from the site without a refund.
• Anti-social behaviour may lead to eviction. Please act responsibly and be sound.
DAMAGE/LOSSES
• The Promoter does not accept any liability for personal or property damages, losses (including surrendered items) or injuries sustained at this Event – other than caused as a result of our negligence
• We may prosecute you if you cause damage to the site, the site infrastructure, or cause harm to any other person at the Event and/or site
FIRE AND SAFETY
• In the interests of a safe and positive experience for everyone you must comply will any and all instructions given to you by us and/or Event staff and stewards
• Excessive exposure to loud music may cause damage to your hearing
• Pyrotechnics, lasers, smoke machines, strobe lighting/special effects may take place during some performances
• The use of drones or similar equipment for any reason is strictly forbidden onsite without written permission from the promoter

"How life has changed. In the mid 1970s Cork City was as intimate as any Irish village,yet it boasted 33 early morning licences. They opened at 7am six mornings a week, and each one bulging at the seams, had its own unique identity and colour.
Clientele came from all walks of life & social status was non-existent. Generally dockers were the main customers, the huge dock land area was at the mouth of one of the finest harbours in the world. But, there was also night workers from the post office, from the factories, shift workers from Fords & Dunlop's, along with farmers and market gardeners who travelled long distances to deliver their produce. All Cork life was there. These hostelries were an integral part of life back then. Doors opened at 7am sharp, impatient punters quickly polished off the first few drinks. By 8am heads were cleared, some would leave but most would stay after developing a 'lip'."

Cyprus Avenue opened it's doors for the first time in September 2003 and has been at the forefront of the Cork live music scene ever since.
Initially a 230 capacity venue, it expanded to 500 capacity in 2018 attracting the very best in local, national and international acts.
In 2023, a new rooftop bar called Wavelength was added with 130 capacity available for private/corporate bookings. Roof can also be enclosed and has heating, ensuring weather is not a factor for your event.

FAQ
Do you post out physical tickets?
No – after booking tickets online you'll be sent a confirmation email with a pdf attachment which contains your tickets (or on your Eventbrite app). You will need this in order for us to scan your ticket to gain entry to the show. You do not need to print it out, simply have it ready for display on your phone at the ticket desk.
The QR code on each ticket is unique and will only scan once.
Please do not purchase from 3rd party sellers.
What time does the concert start/end?
Live music/comedy shows normally start 45mins after doors on a 7pm door and is finished by 10.30pm. We do not post or advertise specific stage times.
For late night DJ events e.g. 11pm doors, music starts immediately.
Are there any age restrictions for shows?
All shows are strictly ages 18+ unless stated otherwise.
2 forms of ID may be required (national age card, driver licence, passport - student ID is accepted as a 2nd form). Schoolgoers will not be admitted.
Fraudulent ID or ID not matching the person presenting it will be confiscated, treated as stolen property and issued to the Gardaí.
Is the venue seated?
Unless otherwise stated, all live music shows are standing.
There are a small number of tables along the side which are limited and go on a first come first serve basis so we recommend coming early for the best chance of getting a seat. They cannot be booked in advance.
Comedy shows are seated events.
What about accessibility?
We have a wheelchair accessible lift at ground floor to venue level. At venue level there is also a wheelchair accesible toilet.
The website says X is sold out. Is that really true?
Yes. We do not reserve tickets for sale on the door, so if we've marked it as sold out on the website then it is definitely sold out.
Is it OK for me to record/film/take pictures etc?
Generally, photos without flash are fine. Video is generally not allowed.
