Gig honouring Joy Division’s Ian Curtis organised in aid of Pieta
A charity gig has been organised for October 11th in Crane Lane, with all proceeds going to support the work of Pieta. The gig will be headlined by Cork-based band Digital, who will be playing the hits from Joy Division and New Order on the night.
Gig organiser Terry O’Sullivan said the choice of charity for the event was important:
“Most people, unfortunately, have had their lives touched by suicide, and people struggling with their mental health, in some way. Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis took his own life 45 years ago, at the young age of 23, so it’s a cause fans of both Joy Division and follow-up band New Order hold close to their hearts.
“So it was important for me to pick a charity like Pieta,” he continued, “that does crucial, life-saving work in the area of suicide & self harm, so that proceeds of the gig would go to a great, relevant cause. And it was great to have the band Digital on board, who keep Ian’s music alive with every gig they play, so it promises to be a really wonderful night.”
The gig kicks off at 9pm on Saturday October 11th in Crane Lane. Tickets cost €20 & are on-sale now, available from Eventbrite. All proceeds will go to support Pieta.
